Un percentatge variable d&#8217;aquestes lesions, per\u00f2, es comporten com tumors malignes arribant a generar disseminaci\u00f3 visceral a partir de lesions cut\u00e0nies fins en un 22% de casos. Per\u00f2 exceptuant l&#8217;\u00edndex mit\u00f2tic, no hi ha consens sobre els criteris que permeten recon\u00e8ixer aquest subgrup de tumors de major agressivitat.<\/p>\n<p>Tenint en compte la vinculaci\u00f3 que existeix a l&#8217;esp\u00e8cie canina entre les mutacions del gen (c-Kit) que codifica per al receptor tirosina quinasa en mast\u00f2cits i l&#8217;increment de la proliferaci\u00f3 cel\u00b7lular i reducci\u00f3 de la taxa de superviv\u00e8ncia, s&#8217;ha plantejat si la identificaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aquesta alteraci\u00f3 molecular permetria una millor interpretaci\u00f3 dels mastocitomes en gats i recon\u00e8ixer aquells tumors m\u00e9s agressius. Igual que en gossos, els gats tamb\u00e9 desenvolupen mutacions de c-Kit. Ara b\u00e9, mentre que la distribuci\u00f3 de la prote\u00efna est\u00e0 relacionada amb el comportament del tumor, l&#8217;alteraci\u00f3 del proto-onogen no es correspon com succeeix en gossos amb el desenvolupament de la neopl\u00e0sia ni amb el pron\u00f2stic.
